For my wedding anniversary we hiked through the night over 6 miles and 5000 feet of elevation gain to the top of the South Sister so I could see first light. The hike was amazing with a super bright moon that lit our way when we weren't under the trees. We arrived at the peak about 3am and had to wait an hour (in the howling wind and freezing temperatures! BRRR, that part was pretty miserable!) until the first glimmer at the horizon. Two hours later I got my sunrise pink wash on the North and Middle Sisters. What an amazing experience! What a great anniversary AND beautiful sunrise on my husband's birthday!
